Here you will find all the practical information you need to prepare your visit to the Arc de triomphe.

Opening times

1st April to 30 September
Wednesday to Monday 10am - 11pm
Tuesdays 11am - 11pm

1st October to 31 March
Wednesday to Monday 10am - 10.30pm
Tuesdays 11am - 10.30pm

Please note : last admission to the monument 45 minutes before closing time.
Free access to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Closures

Late opening at 11am on Thursday 17 April, Thursday 19 June, Friday 12 September, Thursday 16 October and Friday 14 November 2025.

Early closing at 4pm on 24 and 31 December 2025.

Annual closures on 1st  January, 1st May, 8 May, 14 July (morning), 11 November (morning) and 25 December.

Due to official ceremonies or adverse weather conditions, the Arc de triomphe may be partially or totally closed on an exceptional basis.

In the event of exceptional closure, e-tickets purchased on the Centre des monuments nationaux online ticketing service are automatically refunded to the bank account that was debited. There is no need to make any claims. Please note that there will be a delay.

The ticket gives you access to the entire monument and its terrace.

Main free tickets

  • Under 18s
  • 18-25 years (European Union nationals and non-European legal residents in France)
  • Disabled person and one accompanying adult
  • Jobseekers (proof of employment from Frace Travail or an equivalent establishment in a member state of the European Union, less than 6 months old or showing a period of validity, accompanied by photographic ID).
  • Teachers with a valid French Education Pass
  • The first Sunday in January, February, March, November and December
  • Soldiers, gendarmes and CRS with "Sentinelle" professional card and mission order
  • Members of ICOM and ICOMOS
  • Holders of the Ministry of Culture card and one accompanying person

Access and transport

Access to the monument is via the Passage du Souvenir , at the top of the Avenue des Champs-Élysées or the Avenue de la Grande-Armée.

By car

From outside Paris: exit at Porte Maillot and avenue de la Grande-Armée or exit at Porte Dauphine and avenue Foch.

By bike

Vélib' stations on rue Arsène Houssaye, avenue Hoche, rue Beaujon, rue Balzac and rue Traktir.

By public transport

Metro lines 1, 2, 6 and RER A, Charles-de-Gaulle-Étoile station; bus lines 22, 30, 31, 52, 73, 92 and Balabus.

Services and visiting conditions

  • 284 steps up to the terrace. A lift is available only to those who need it, with no need to book in advance.
  • Maximum luggage permitted: 40x40x20cm.
  • There is no left-luggage office at the monument, but the Paris tourist office lists all the left-luggage offices in the capital.
  • Pushchairs are not allowed inside the monument. However, you can leave them with the access control officers and collect them at the end of your visit.
  • Dogs are prohibited, with the exception of guide dogs for the visually impaired.
  • Objects prohibited in the monument: flags, banners, selfie poles, tripods, scooters, rollerblades, sharp objects, glass bottles, weapons.
  • Allégorie sous les petits arcs, côté de Passy, Sud Ouest.
